it has great purity on the nose
The superbly rich and velvety broad-shouldered flavors possess outstanding size
This isn't quite as deeply colored as the '95 Charmes (see herein) and the expressive nose is consistent with this as there is more evident maturity to the secondary fruit and earth aromas that display hints of sous-bois
It is immediately clear that this is a bigger and more powerful wine that possesses outstanding mid-palate density and a huge reserve of dry extract that imparts a seductive mouth feel and mostly buffers the exceptionally firm tannic spine on the massively long finish
followed by a full-bodied
this is pretty and perfectly nice but it's not a great Musigny
It offers ripe dark cherry
sexy and still balanced
blackberry and cassis
a touch of beef blood and iron and something floral and refined
There is a driving minerality to the mouth coating and focused middle weight plus flavors that are ultra-vibrant
precise and driving medium-bodied flavors that culminate in a moderately austere and gorgeously sustained finale
