full-bodied flavors of creme brulee
with a hint of earthy mushroom to the yeasty flavours
The 1959 was unctuous
spicy and quite floral nose that features mostly dark berry fruit liqueur-like scents
and a dense
white blossom
balanced and exquisitely persistent finish where a hint of bitter cherry pit surfaces
A discreet application of wood does not reduce the considerable appeal of the ripe
There is a really lovely sense of underlying tension suffusing the much more mineral-driven middle weight flavors that are not quite as rich but notably more precise on the chiseled and wonderfully refined finish
multidimensional wine that should drink well for 25-30 years
