Salome Yeatman, Seed Pods IRepresents both the beginning and the continuation of life, culture, and knowledge. In our community, seeds are more than just the start of growth they carry the memory of Country, of Ancestors, and of generations who have cared for the land before us. This is a very contemporary form of an artefact

Males and females keep separate usually

The colors on the Dillybag represent my rainforest country

To do the body I draw it on paper and cut it out together with the top shell to make the empty turtle shell

as doing so would dishonour the generations of knowledge that have preserved its integrity

but I was on my Great Grandmother’s country when I went out yabbying with my family

I was never given a totem due to the loss of language
