Jacques Frederic Mugnier Musigny Grand Cru 2006This was unfortuately noticeably bretty and while it was still drinkable, it wasn't what it should have been. I have no other recent notes so I can't say whether this bottle was abnormal or not.

The 1949 is made in the mold of the 1953

Asian spices and smoky minerals

Fine perfumes of flowers (the name "Fleuraison" means flowering / blossoming)

black raspberry and blackberry soar from the glass of this spectacular 2014

This is powerful and presently quite compact yet my sense is that despite being very tightly wound today

Fabulously concentrated

but it is worth noting that it was blasted off the table by its siblings in this issue's mini-vertical

An exuberantly expressive nose jumps from the glass to reveal a lovely array of earth

the expressive nose displays fully mature aromas and the initial hints of sous-bois

Maybe it will surprise us in the end

who has done so much to raise the level of quality at Chateau Le Gay

This velvety but relatively powerful wine exhibits good delineation for the vintage as well as moderate austerity which is also relatively rare in this opulent year
