Chateau Fombrauge Vintage 1982A pre Bernard Magrez vintage for this Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classe. He bought the property in 1999. The 1982 vintage needs no introduction. Wonderful for Bordeaux and still capable of giving pleasure today. Typical blend, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc. 75cl bottle. Abv 12. 5% Bottle condition, capsule good, label good, wine level in neck.

A merlot dominated wine
Nice older claret
then drunk over a few hours
and it was both alive and kicking (and it had had a three hour decant to boot)
The 1968 vintage was better in Italy than it was in France and the Nebbiolo grape is know for its ling life
after the owner Filhot was beheaded during the French Revolution
Deep garnet in colour with moderate concentration and clear bricking at the rim
Chateau Latour has a reputation for producing good wines in the lesser vintages so you never know
predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with a little Merlot and Cabernet Franc
